Personal Message from Your Therapist: Cheryl Strain, M.A., LMFT, LPC

I’ve been in private practice since 2002 and have worked with a wide range of individuals, couples, and families. A safe, professional environment is provided in which each person(s) may best explore the issue(s) most important to each of them. I am genuinely passionate about my work and dedicated to helping clients realize and develop their strengths, potential, and capacity for growth and change. My education and extensive training covers general psychology and marriage and family therapy with a renewed focus on neuroscience and how we CAN transform our lives by modifying our thoughts. Whether you desire to improve your life in some way or explore any aspect of your life more in-depth, the time is right to reach out and begin the process.

I provide therapeutic services to a diverse set of clients, from elementary-aged children to older individuals (85+ years old), addressing a wide range of issues that enhance clients’ lives and those around them. I rely on an eclectic approach, incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy and aspects of neuroscience while holding a systems perspective. Systems include one’s home environment, close friends or relatives, work setting, and the system that comprises our mind, body, and spiritual selves—indeed, one’s entire being.

My background is quite varied, as I have worked with many different individuals over the years. As an undergraduate and graduate student, I participated in volunteer work and various internships, which included working at a women’s shelter for battered women and children, an elementary school, and a nursing home, as well as various inpatient facilities for clients struggling with chemical dependency, eating disorders, and dual diagnoses.

I firmly believe that each person can live a fulfilled life full of vitality regardless of age. However, one must be healthy to achieve and maintain optimal vitality. Let’s work together toward a healthier, happier you!

Sincerely,

Cheryl
